When the Blackrobes came to this land they forbid the native people to practice thier religion, and so thier religion went "underground" and was passed on only by word of mouth. Eventually we learned that this was wrong, and the Native people now practice both. Part of thier religion was, "respect toward the animals", although small, Chipmunk has strong, "medicine".
