The Buffalo Stone
The Story
A long time ago, before horses, the Buffalo disappeared and the people began to starve. A woman looking for firewood heard some singing. It came from a small rock, and it said, "take me, I am of great power." The stone told the men to lay Bufalo chips in a line behind their regular drives and wave a Buffalo robe over them 4 times and shout in a sing-song . The chips turned into Buffalo and were driven over the cliffs. And once agin, the people had food and clothing. A few were saved, to renew the herds. The calf is the first of a new herd.
